Our Dentists

Dr. Katharine Gillanders, was born and raised in Owen Sound, Ontario. She received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Western University before pursuing her passion for dentistry at the University of Toronto. She graduated with honours and was recognized for her many achievements in academics and clinical dentistry.

Katharine and her husband moved from Ontario to Nanaimo in 2014. She joined the team at Harewood Dental Clinic shortly after her arrival. She loves the sense of community in the office and looks forward to continuing the tradition of family-centered dental care. Her kind, caring, and understanding manner creates a very comfortable environment in which she endeavours to provide each and every patient a positive dental experience.

When not in the office Katharine enjoys spending time fishing and exploring the outdoors with her husband and two sons.

Dr. Brianne Henderson was born and raised in Victoria, BC. Brianne pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria before completing her dental degree at the University of British Columbia. She was proud to receive multiple awards for patient care, clinical excellence, and volunteerism while at UBC.

Brianne joined Harewood Dental in 2019. She enjoys spending time getting to know her patients, thus providing them with a treatment plan that suits their individual needs in a relaxed, friendly environment.

When not in the office Brianne enjoys hiking with her golden retriever, horseback riding, and hot yoga.

Dr. Ryan Wortman grew up in the Kootenays in Lake Windermere, BC. He attended the University of Victoria where he completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees. Ryan then pursued his dental aspirations at the University College Cork in Ireland and was thrilled to return to the Island when he joined Harewood Dental in 2022.

When not in the clinic, Ryan can be found on his motorcycle, playing hockey, skiing, or out exploring new trails.
